As a tenant you still need to organise contents insurance and we strongly advise that you insure yourself against any damage caused that may be deemed to be negligent on the tenants behalf e.g., if an element is left on and causes a fire.

Insurance is an added cost, but this cost is far outweighed by the chance that the landlords insurance company may hold you responsible for what may be an accidental act on your behalf, that they may see as a negligent act, and take you through the courts to seek compensation.
